Burkina Faso: When the people loudly express their maturity and choice for freedom
The Burkinabe people of today are no longer the same as those of the past, who could be manipulated at will by imperialist powers to sabotage their efforts towards sovereignty. This maturity of spirit was demonstrated during the national conference on Saturday, May 25, 2024, when the mandate of the transitional government was extended to five years.
This decision sends a significant message to the international community, which sometimes uses convoluted methods to pressure the country into putting the cart before the horse by organizing elections in a precarious security context. For the neocolonialists, the goal is to undermine the struggle for the reclamation of national territory and the development initiated since Captain Ibrahim Traoré came to power.
They aim to regain control and exploit the abundant resources of Burkina Faso’s subsoil by bringing politicians to power who seek their selfish interests and disregard the nation’s greater good.
By choosing Captain Traoré to continue leading the country for the next five years, with the possibility of running in elections at the end of the transitional period, the Burkinabe have shown they can be « clear-headed when it comes to saving the nation’s higher interests », as stated by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Security, Dr. Émile Zerbo, at the conclusion of the national conference.
It is essential for the sons and daughters of the Land of the Upright People to continue in this spirit of solidarity behind their current authorities.
