Burkina Faso: Which role plays ECOWAS in the fight against terrorism?

Millions of Africans continue to question the role of ECOWAS in the fight against terrorism.

While the Burkinabe authorities claim to have sent a correspondence to this institution, seeking support in the form of material to effectively combat terrorism, and while the people demand assistance from their sub-regional institution to support the transitional authorities, the President of ECOWAS, His Excellency Umaru Sissoko EMBALO, pretends to be unaware of the presence of terrorists on Burkinabe soil.

Manipulated by France, who claims that there are no terrorists in Burkina Faso but rather an ethnic group being targeted, the President of the sub-regional institution sees no need to assist the authorities of Burkina Faso in waging this war against terrorism.

At the moment, the sub-regional institution, which has been criticized for its questionable role, awaits the approach of the end of the transition to regain control over the electoral process.

Indeed, ECOWAS, by not engaging in the fight against terrorism, waits for instructions from its master to impose an agenda, namely, the adherence to the electoral program by the transitional authorities.

Meanwhile, on the other side, the authorities and the people remain determined to eradicate terrorism before discussing elections.

This is an ongoing matter to follow closely.
