Cameroon: Marc Brys appointed new coach of the indomitable Lions
He is the successor of Rigobert Song, former coach of the Cameroon Indomitable Lions. Among the long list of candidates, it is the Belgian Marc Brys, 61 years old, who has been appointed by the Cameroonian government.
The announcement was made through the television news on the Cameroonian national channel, CRTV. According to the government, Marc Brys, due to his experience, is the ideal coach to elevate Cameroonian football and achieve the set goals for the national team, namely, qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.
Despite his 25 years of coaching, the Belgian is unknown to the Cameroonian and African public as he has mainly worked in Belgium.
As the new coach of the Cameroonian team, « his technical staff will be composed of respected figures such as Omam Biyik and Ashu Bessong as assistant coaches , Alioum Boukar as goalkeeper coach, along with other key members such as Dany Nounkeu as team manager, Christophe Manouvrier as fitness coach, and Germain Noël Essengue in charge of the press », according to the Cameroonian government’s statement.
