Cameroon: Marc Brys dismissed from his position as head coach of the Indomitable Lions
Marc Brys is no longer the head coach of the Indomitable Lions. This decision was made by FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o following a heated altercation with Brys on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
The President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), Samuel Eto’o, has restructured the staff of the Indomitable Lions. The former Cameroonian international appointed a new staff after a contentious exchange with Marc Brys, who had been appointed by the Ministry of Sports to replace Rigobert Song.
At the emergency committee meeting convened after the dispute, Fecafoot suspended Brys and appointed Martin Ndtoungou Mpile as the interim coach of the Cameroonian national football team.
David Pagou was designated as the assistant coach, and Narcisse Tinkeu as the interim physical trainer.
So far, the supervisory ministry has not yet commented on this decision by the Cameroonian Football Federation. Tensions between the ministry and FECAFOOT have been rising for some time, and this new decision is likely to escalate the situation. The Ministry of Sports does not intend to back down or comply with the decisions of the football governing body.
Moreover, following the altercation on Tuesday, May 28, the Minister of Sports reassured Marc Brys about his position. « I can assure you that you are still the staff. Stay calm, it will be sorted out, don’t worry », he stated.
