The Director General of Intelligence and Investigations (DGRI), General President Brahim Mahamat Seid, has been appointed as Special Advisor to the Presidency since Monday, February 24. He was named by presidential decree, immediately after being relieved of his position as Director General of Intelligence, a role he had held since January 2024.

He has been replaced in his former position by General Abdou Idriss Sorgouno, who was previously the Deputy Director General of the DGRI. According to reports, this senior officer in the Chadian army has held several key positions, including that of Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Now serving alongside the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, General Brahim will be able to offer his counsel to strengthen the capabilities of Chad’s intelligence services and national army, contributing to a more effective fight against insecurity in all its forms.

It is important to note that under Marshal Mahamat’s leadership, Chad has firmly committed to a path of self-determination, breaking away from colonial agreements with France. A closer collaboration among the member countries of the AES Confederation is now being considered to better address the security challenges faced by the three (03) AES countries.
