Côte d’Ivoire: A 15 Billion CFA Franc investment in a cashew nut processing unit
In Côte d’Ivoire, Prime Minister Robert Beugré inaugurated a new cashew nut processing unit on July 12, located in Boundiali, in the Bagoué region. This project, with a total cost of 15 billion CFA francs (24.9 million USD), was funded by the Emirati company Pan African Agro Commodities (PAAC), which specializes in trading agricultural commodities.
Located on a 10-hectare site in the village of Tombougou-Samorosso, this processing unit is equipped to handle up to 50 tons of cashew nuts per day, with an annual capacity of over 18.000 tons. This modern infrastructure is a significant addition to the cashew industry in Côte d’Ivoire, a crucial sector for the local economy.
The opening of this processing unit is a major development for the Bagoué region and the Ivorian agricultural sector as a whole. It promises to create local jobs, stimulate the regional economy, and reduce reliance on the export of unprocessed raw materials. By processing cashew nuts locally, Côte d’Ivoire can add value to its products, thereby increasing the income of producers and contributing to the country’s economic development.
The financing by Pan African Agro Commodities (PAAC) highlights the importance of international partnerships for infrastructure development in Africa. The investment by this Emirati company demonstrates the confidence of foreign investors in the economic potential of Côte d’Ivoire and its agricultural sector.
