Côte d’Ivoire: The Ivorian government finally gives its opinion on the possible return of Guillaume Soro

After the Ivorian Minister of the Interior spoke, it’s now the turn of the government spokesperson to address the return of the former Prime Minister and former President of the National Assembly, Guillaume Soro.

While the former did not mention the judicial aspect of Soro’s return, Amadou Coulibaly, the government spokesperson, clarified that the Ivorian justice system would decide on his sentencing.

«Guillaume Soro can return whenever he wants, indeed, the country is open. His convictions will be handled by the judicial administration of our country», stated Amadou Coulibaly after a council of ministers.

Is it a trap or good news for the politician who announced an end to his exile and returned to Africa a few days ago? Currently, there has been no reaction from Guillaume Soro following the statement made by the Minister of the Interior, Vagondo Diomandé.

Since his return to Africa, he has been received by the transitional presidents of Niger and Burkina Faso, heads of state who allowed him to set foot on African soil after five years away from his home country.
