Côte d’Ivoire: When Mr. Jean-Louis Billon advocates for lower electricity costs through renewable energy

In a recent statement, Mr. Jean-Louis Billon shared his plans to make electricity more affordable in Côte d’Ivoire. Among his priorities is increasing the use of renewable energy, particularly solar power, to diversify the country’s energy mix. He emphasizes the necessity of fully harnessing Côte d’Ivoire’s solar potential to reduce household and business bills.

“We have significant solar potential that we must exploit to ease the bills,” Mr. Billon stated, highlighting that this energy transition could significantly impact electricity costs. He believes that a greater integration of solar energy into the national grid could lower electricity bills by 30 to 50%, making energy more accessible to all.

This approach aims not only to reduce costs but also to strengthen the country’s energy resilience against fluctuations in fossil fuel prices on the global market. By adopting a more sustainable energy policy, Côte d’Ivoire could enhance its economy while positioning itself as a regional leader in renewable energy.

Mr. Jean-Louis is convinced that investing in solar infrastructure and modernizing the electrical grid will help realize this long-term vision, providing tangible benefits for citizens and the country’s economy.
