Cycling: International Tour of Mali / Burkina Faso wins the first stage

Burkina Faso has made a remarkable entry into the 10th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Mali by winning the first stage. Mohamadi Ilboudo crossed the finish line first on May 21, 2024, at the end of the race from Bamako to Bougouni, covering a distance of 165.1 km.

Burkinabe cyclist Mohamadi Ilboudo arrived solo during the first stage of the race on Tuesday between Bamako and Bougouni. He also took the yellow jersey of this 10th edition.

« The coach warned us to focus because we would win the stage. We are here to honor our country », assured Mohamadi Ilboudo, the stage winner.

« We had good preparation because we recently participated in the Tour du Bénin. This allowed us to prepare well. The instructions were followed. The boys followed the instructions », said Rabaki Jérémie Ouédraogo, the sports director.

The second stage takes place between Zantiébougou and Niena, covering a distance of 102.3 km.

The 10th Tour du Mali is held from May 21 to May 26, 2024. Several teams from Benin, Burkina Faso, CĂ´te d’Ivoire, Niger, and three teams from the host country are participating.
