DRC: Constitutional Court Confirms Félix Tshisekedi’s Victory

Felix Tshisekedi, who presented himself as the favorite since the beginning of the electoral process, is set to begin his second term as president.On Tuesday night, the constitutional court confirmed the re-election of the incumbent candidate.

According to the final results of the presidential election on December 20 published by this jurisdiction, Felix Tshisekedi obtained 73.47% of the expressed votes. Meanwhile, his main opponent, Moise Katumbi, came in second with 18.08% of the votes.

The electoral dispute judges also rejected the appeal of Theodore Ngoy, who sought the annulment of the election due to alleged irregularities.

For Patrick Muyaya, the spokesperson for the Congolese government, with the decision of the constitutional court, the « page of the presidential election closes ».

The people have made their choice, placing their trust in Felix Tshisekedi, giving him a second chance to consolidate achievements for the development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
