The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have made a significant breakthrough by regaining control of Lumbishi, a locality in the Kalehe territory of South Kivu. This operation, carried out with determination, reflects the FARDC’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in a region plagued by instability for several years.

Lumbishi, considered a strategic point, had been the site of hostile activities fueled by armed groups seeking to destabilize the region. The recapture of this locality by the FARDC represents not only a military victory but also a powerful symbol of resilience in the face of ongoing threats in the eastern DRC.

The residents of Lumbishi, many of whom had been forced into exile or lived under constant threat, are celebrating this liberation as a step toward returning to a normal life. Local and military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the lasting security of the reclaimed areas and preventing any resurgence of armed groups.

Under the leadership of President Félix Tshisekedi, the Congolese government is pursuing a holistic approach to pacify crisis-stricken regions, combining military operations, infrastructure rehabilitation, and the social reintegration of affected populations.

The recapture of Lumbishi illustrates the FARDC’s determination to restore state authority across the entire national territory. This military success strengthens hope for the gradual stabilization of South Kivu and, more broadly, the eastern regions that have long been caught in recurrent conflicts.
