DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi inaugurates Estates General to revitalize the State Portfolio
The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, officially launched the work of the General States of State-Owned Enterprises on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Financial Center in Kinshasa. These sessions, which will run until December 14, aim to transform these public enterprises into drivers of economic growth and social development.
Under the theme “Making the State Portfolio a Powerful Lever for Economic Growth and Social Development in the DRC”, the event brings together experts, decision-makers, and managers of public enterprises to thoroughly examine the structural and managerial challenges that hinder their performance.
In his opening speech, the Head of State emphasized the strategic importance of public enterprises for the national economy. He called for profound reforms and transparent governance to address the chronic dysfunctions that often plague these entities. President Félix Tshisekedi reiterated his commitment to injecting new dynamics for sustainable recovery.
The General States will identify concrete solutions to revive public enterprises, enhance their competitiveness, and increase their contribution to national development. This framework for reflection marks an essential step in the modernization and economic reform agenda championed by President Tshisekedi.
