DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi reaffirms his commitment to Food Self-Sufficiency through concrete actions

President Félix Tshisekedi reaffirmed his commitment to achieving food self-sufficiency in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through concrete actions. During a recent inspection visit to Kanyama Kasese in the Haut Lomami region, he assessed the agro-pastoral program of the National Service, led by General Kasongo Kabwit.

This project, which engages young builders in a reeducation based on love for others and the nation, is central to the President’s strategy to strengthen national food security.

During his visit to the training and mentoring center, President Tshisekedi praised the efforts of the young builders and encouraged them to continue on this path, assuring them of the unwavering support of the Congolese state. These agricultural and pastoral initiatives have already led to the cultivation of 5.000 hectares of maize and the raising of thousands of livestock, thus helping to reduce dependency on food imports.

This program is not limited to Haut Lomami: the Kanyama Kasese model will be extended to other provinces across the country. By supporting such structural projects, President Tshisekedi demonstrates a clear and pragmatic vision to ensure food security and lay the foundation for sustainable development for the benefit of the Congolese population.
