Football/CAN 2024: DRC pushed but Zambia resisted (1-1)

The DRC and Zambia left on a draw on Wednesday, January 17 in San Pedro. The Chipolopolos, hyper realistic, opened the score with Kings Kangwa while the DRC equalized a few minutes later with Yoane Wissa (1-1), without managing to take the lead despite a big domination.

With its leaders Chancel Mbemba, Gaël Kakuta and Cédric Bakambu, the DRC hoped to forget its absence at the previous AFCON in Cameroon during this edition in Côte d’Ivoire.

For their return to the biggest tournament of the African continent, the « Leopards » are thirsty, it’s a good thing, the climate of San Pedro lends itself willingly.

For its first outing in Côte d’Ivoire, Sébastien Desabre’s DRC faces Zambia, African champion in 2012 under the leadership of another French, Hervé Renard. But since the title acquired to the general surprise, the selection returned in the row, and was even absent from the previous three CAN.
