Football: Cristiano Ronaldo accused of indictable offence; Al- Nassr reacts
The Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has finally responded to the request for the expulsion of Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the club, he made this gesture due to a blow he received in the genital area during the match
In an official statement, the club explains that the player had suffered an injury in that area during a duel with Gustavo Cuellar, a player from Al-Hilal.
However, this explanation has not calmed the anger of several Saudis who are calling for sanctions against the Portuguese striker.
Indeed, Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star, is facing controversy in Saudi Arabia after a controversial gesture during a match between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal on April 18th.
Following this incident, a Saudi lawyer, Nouf bin Ahmed, expressed her intention to file a complaint against Ronaldo for «public indecency» and to demand his expulsion from the country.
On the 25th day of the Saudi championship, Al- Nassr, Ronaldo’s team, lost to Al-Hilal, who won the game 2-0 thanks to a double by former Manchester United player Odion Ighalo.
At the end of the match, Ronaldo reacted to provocations by Al- Nassr supporters by seizing his genitals, a move that sparked heated controversy in Saudi Arabia and Several Muslim Countries.
