Football : “He Must Mive 49 Million FCFA Because…”, Sadio Mané to pay a significant sum of money

Sadio Mané, the star player of the Senegal Lions and former forward for Liverpool, acquired ownership of the French club Bourges Foot 18 on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. However, despite his ownership, no significant investment had been made in this modest team until now. However, this is about to change with the imminent creation of a sports company tasked with managing the club, which currently competes in National 2.

According to information reported by France Bleu, Sadio Mané will have to release a sum of 75.000 euros (approximately 49.297.140 CFA francs) to constitute the capital of this company. The eight other local business leaders will contribute to the remaining shares, thus bringing the total capital to 100.000 euros. Initially, Sadio Mané planned to acquire 90% of the shares, leaving the remaining 10% to the club’s president, Cheick Sylla.

However, after reflection and discussions with other business leaders, Cheick Sylla expressed reservations about this distribution of shares, considering it to be too much for both him and Sadio Mané. He emphasized the need to involve local business leaders. Sadio Mané quickly acknowledged the validity of his remarks and asked Cheick Sylla to provide him with profiles of business leaders who share similar values to his.

Once these profiles were provided, Sadio Mané contacted these business leaders, and discussions quickly led to agreements. All of these local investors already support the club, reinforcing the idea that Bourges Football Club is primarily Bourges’ club and not just Sadio Mané’s.

A shareholders’ general meeting is scheduled for March 21. It will need to approve all the steps taken so far, including the club’s name change to officially become Bourges Football Club.
