Football: Hervé Koffi joins RC Lens: New momentum for the burkinabe goalkeeper
RC Lens announced on Monday, June 24, 2024, the official signing of Burkinabe international goalkeeper Hervé Koffi from Charleroi SC. After weeks of negotiations, the agreement has finally been finalized, and Koffi has committed to the club from Artois for a period of four years, until June 2028. The operation is estimated to be worth 2.1 million euros.
Hervé Koffi, 27 years old, leaves Charleroi SC where he has played for the past three seasons since his departure from LOSC. During his time at Charleroi, he played 92 matches and established himself as an undisputed starter. With 54 caps for the Burkinabé national team, Koffi is also a key player for his country’s selection.
The president of RC Lens expressed his delight with this signing, stating: “A top athlete is strengthening the Sang et Or! Goalkeeper and undisputed starter of the Burkina Faso national team, Hervé Koffi joins Artois from SC Charleroi. A complete last line of defense, the 27-year-old player has signed a 4-year contract, binding him to Racing until 2028”.
Koffi arrives at RC Lens in a context where his role as number one is not yet defined. Indeed, his status as a starter or substitute will depend on the outcome of the summer transfer window and the future of Brice Samba, currently engaged with the French team for Euro 2024 in Germany.
The future will determine whether Hervé Koffi will take the reins as Lens’ main goalkeeper or share responsibilities with Samba. In any case, his arrival strengthens RC Lens’ defensive options for the coming seasons.
