Football: New rules adopted by FIFA

According to the information, football is undergoing a revolution. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) has decided to introduce new rules of the game. These measures were adopted on Saturday, March 1st, in Northern Ireland, during the 139th Annual General Meeting of the IFAB.
From now on, any goalkeeper who tries to waste time by holding the ball for more than 8 seconds will be penalized with a corner for the opposing team.
Previously, this offense was only penalized by a direct free kick. Another change concerns the captain’s rule. The new rules state that only the player wearing the captain’s armband will be allowed to approach the referee to challenge certain decisions.
After a prolonged VAR check, the referee can verbally explain the decision made. These new provisions will come into effect during the next FIFA Club World Cup, which will kick off on June 14th.
