Football/OM-PSG (0-3): Marseille are devoured by Paris
The confrontation did not live up to expectations. On Sunday, October 27, in the closing match of the 9th round of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain smothered and dominated Olympique de Marseille (OM) from start to finish, leading 3-0 by the end of the first half. The Marseillais never found a way to pose a threat or withstand the assaults from their number one rival.
Quickly falling behind after a goal from João Neves in the 7th minute, the Marseillais definitively collapsed in the 20th minute following the (harsh) red card shown to Amine Harit for a high challenge on Marquinhos. The distress of the Phocaean club was evident with the second goal conceded, an own goal from Argentine Leonardo Balerdi (29′), who mistakenly beat Rulli while he was alone in his box.
Barcola then sealed the deal in the 40th minute, as the Marseille goalkeeper had already been forced to fend off Dembélé’s attacks from the right side, only to be caught off guard on the left by the French international. The second half mirrored the first, with PSG’s lack of finishing adding to the overall disappointment.
