Football/ PSG face Atlético de Madrid (2-1)

At the Parc des Princes, PSG fell to Atlético Madrid (1-2) this Wednesday evening, during the 4th matchday of the Champions League. A match marked by the same recurring issues in PSG’s play.

Paris Saint-Germain simply had no choice this Wednesday evening. After a defeat to Arsenal, a draw against PSV Eindhoven, and a slim victory over Girona, Luis Enrique’s players needed to deliver a perfect performance at home against Atlético Madrid during the 4th matchday of the Champions League.

At the Parc des Princes, the Spanish coach deployed his strongest lineup: Gianluigi Donnarumma returned to goal, with a classic defense of Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Willian Pacho, and Achraf Hakimi, a midfield bolstered by the talents of Warren Zaïre-Emery, Vitinha, and João Neves, while Marco Asensio played as a false nine, flanked by Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé.

Despite a very strong start to the match and clear dominance, PSG, who had taken the lead with a goal from Zaïre-Emery, fell in the final moments of the game (1-2). This marks PSG’s first home defeat in the Champions League group stage/league since December 7, 2004, against CSKA Moscow.
