Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was held to a 0-0 draw by AJ Auxerre this Friday evening, extending their winless streak to three matches. Despite several clear chances, including those from Ramos and Mendes, the Parisians couldn’t convert, largely due to an outstanding performance by Auxerre’s goalkeeper, Léon, who made no fewer than 11 saves during the match.

Following a concerning loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and a draw against Nantes, PSG needed a win to silence internal criticism and ease tensions surrounding coach Luis Enrique. However, despite dominating the game, Enrique’s men lacked the finishing touch, with Léon making several spectacular stops. The best chance for PSG came late in the game, with Vitinha’s shot hitting the crossbar (69′).

Although the draw allows PSG to maintain an eight-point lead over their closest rivals in Ligue 1, it doesn’t inspire confidence ahead of crucial fixtures, including their Champions League match away at Salzburg next Tuesday. For their part, Auxerre, while distant from the top spots, earned a valuable point in their fight for survival, which could prove crucial at the end of the season.
