Football: TP Mazembe opens the doors to the group stage of the Champions League
TP Mazembe secured their qualification for the group stage of the Champions League with a 2-1 victory against Red Arrows in a match held in Lubumbashi. This performance allows the Congolese club to continue their continental journey with an aggregate score of 4-1 over the two legs.
Right from the kickoff, the Ravens showed their determination. Ibrahima Keita and Cheikh Fofana launched multiple attacks, threatening the Zambian defense. In the 10th minute, Zemanga Soze opened the scoring with a powerful shot, putting Red Arrows under pressure. Despite easing off towards the end of the first half, Mazembe managed to maintain their lead on the scoreboard.
The second half was more intense, with opportunities on both sides. In the 71st minute, the Zambians equalized with a penalty converted by Ricky Banda, reigniting the suspense. However, Mazembe did not falter, and Louis Autchanga restored his team’s advantage in the final minutes, sealing the outcome of the match.
