Gabon: Special repatriation program for Gabonese citizens facing precarious situations in Senegal
In a move aimed at supporting its nationals facing economic difficulties and distressing situations in Senegal, Gabon has launched a «special and urgent repatriation program». This initiative, organized by the Committee for Transition and the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), takes place in the context of exceptional circumstances experienced by Gabon.
Until December 22, 2023, Gabonese citizens, including students, pupils, and other fellow citizens living in Senegal, are invited to register for this program. The operation, spearheaded by the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michel Régis Onanga M. Ndiaye, aims to facilitate the return of Gabonese nationals facing difficulties back to their home country.
The repatriation program also includes compatriots residing in countries under the jurisdiction of the Gabonese embassy in Senegal, namely Gambia, Cape Verde, Guinea Conakry, and Guinea Bissau. This humanitarian action is specifically intended to provide support to Gabonese citizens in difficult and precarious situations.
Registrations for this return journey must be completed at the cultural service of the embassy. Each application will undergo careful examination to assess the presented situation and determine its eligibility for this emergency program. The deadline for registration is set for December 22, 2023.
