Germany: British star Adele makes Europe vibrate with four major concerts this year 2024

« I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! » With this promise of a comeback after eight years of absence, Adele announced on social media her joy to perform four concerts in Europe this year. For her return, the English singer will be in Munich on August 2nd and 3rd, then on August 9th and 10th. No concerts in London, Paris, Berlin, or Rome.

Fans of the English singer might find this disappointing: four shows in a single country seem limited compared to what she has been accomplishing in the United States for the past year and a half with her « Weekends with Adele ».This includes a residency of a hundred shows in Las Vegas, started on November 18, 2022, and scheduled to run until June 15, 2023, with two concerts per weekend.

Adele explains,« A few months ago, I received a call about a series of shows for the summer. I was content with my concerts in Hyde Park, London, and my residency in Vegas, so I had no other plans. However, I was too curious not to follow up and be tempted by this idea: a unique and tailor-made pop-up stadium designed around the show I want to organize? Oh! Right in the middle of Europe? In Munich? It’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Just after the Euro? Come on, England! With the Olympics nearby? And some of my favorite artists are also performing? Come on! I couldn’t imagine a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career, with concerts closer to home during such an exciting summer ».

In summary, Adele plans to have a wonderful summer, but without putting in too much effort for her European audience. It will be up to her fans to come to her. Good for her carbon footprint, not so great for theirs and their wallets. This strategy is not only the singer’s decision but also that of her tour promoter, Live Nation. In recent months, the American entertainment giant has been exploring this type of residency. Last October, Usher, the American R&B star, played eight sold-out nights in Paris during Fashion Week.

On social media, many fans express their intense joy at seeing the English diva on stage again, seemingly without detecting the deception: since, with the energy crisis, organizing tours has become too expensive, it’s up to the spectators, not the artist, to travel.
