International: Donald Trump takes the stage in Milwaukee after assassination attempt
Despite an assassination attempt that shocked the world, former U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday for the Republican National Convention. During this convention, which will run from Monday to Thursday, Trump will be officially nominated as the candidate for the upcoming November presidential election.
Wisconsin, a key battleground state in the November 5 election, will host this convention. It will also be where Trump faces off against current President and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, shared a video on X from the cockpit of the campaign plane “Trump Force One”, announcing their arrival in Milwaukee.
The previous Saturday, Donald Trump, aged 78, was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The shooter was neutralized by security, but the incident resulted in one death and two serious injuries among the spectators, causing a wave of shock across the United States and the world.
On Sunday morning, Trump called for unity in an emotional statement on Truth Social, his personal social network. “Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it is only God who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will not be fearful and will remain true to our faith and defy evil”, he said.
The Republican convention in Milwaukee is expected to be highly charged and will be closely watched by the entire nation, marking a crucial turning point in the 2024 presidential campaign.
