Is Chimène Moladja still in the running for Miss World ?
Following the information circulated on social media about the elimination of Miss Togo Chimène Moladja from the Miss World competition taking place in India, the National Miss Togo Committee breaks its silence and denies the claims.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the President of the Miss Togo Committee, Gaspard Baka, indicates that Chimène Moladja, Miss Togo 2023, is still in the running for the Miss World contest. This statement from the National Miss Togo Committee follows information spread on social media declaring Togo’s candidate a loser after her first appearance. According to internet users, Miss Togo 2023 was eliminated from the competition for having difficulty expressing herself in English at the beginning of the competition.
But according to the Committee, this information is unfounded and is rather the subject of a « rumor ». In its denial, it reveals that « …the Togo candidate, Miss Chimène Moladja, in the Miss World competition currently taking place in India, is still in the running ».
Furthermore, the Committee’s president invites the Togolese public to stand united behind Chimène Moladja until March 9th. « …To this end, he asks you to vote in her favor by liking and/or sharing posts on dedicated social media platforms and on the Mobstar applications until March 9, 2024 », adds the statement.
The Miss World contest celebrates beauty, intelligence, social commitment, and elegance of women on a global scale. The event is in its 71st edition this year and marks the first-time participation of a Miss Togo.
