Ligue 1: PSG overpowers OM 3-1 in crucial classique win

Paris Saint-Germain triumphed 3-1 over Olympique de Marseille in a decisive Classique on the 26th matchday of Ligue 1, taking another step toward a potential new league title. Despite recent setbacks, including two defeats in their last three matches, OM was hoping to pull off a surprise at the Parc des Princes, especially after their midweek victory over Liverpool in the Champions League.
PSG quickly asserted control, with Ousmane DembĂ©lĂ© opening the scoring in the 18th minute after a miscontrolled ball led to a stunning finish past Marseille’s goalkeeper, GerĂ³nimo Rulli. The Parisians doubled their lead just before halftime, with Nuno Mendes converting a pass from Fabian Ruiz (2-0, 42′).
In the second half, Marseille briefly threatened with a goal from Amine Gouiri following a defensive error by Mendes (2-1, 52′). However, PSG restored their advantage with an own goal by Pol Lirola in the 76th minute, after a cross from Achraf Hakimi (3-1). Despite late opportunities for PSG to extend their lead, the match ended with the score unchanged.
This important victory for PSG brings them closer to their 13th Ligue 1 title, while OM remains second but faces increasing pressure from Monaco, Nice, and Lyon in the race for second place. The Classique may have been a tough defeat for Marseille, but the competition for European spots is far from over.
