Mali/Anti-Terrorism Fight: FAMa at work, continues to achieve significant results

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) continue with determination and selflessness their mission of defending and securing the entire Malian territory. From May 24th to 25th, 2024, the Malian military hierarchy reported several criminals neutralized, a destroyed terrorist base, and usable war materials recovered.

Through a press release dated Monday, May 27th, 2024, the General Staff of the Armed Forces detailed the results of an offensive reconnaissance operation conducted by the FAMa during these days. Specifically, this mission enabled the defense and security forces to dismantle a terrorist base coupled with an improvised explosive device workshop in Karsani, 53 km northwest of Douentza.

Several terrorists were also neutralized at this location, and a 14.5 mm machine gun, two shotguns, mortar shells, several radios were recovered, and three motorcycles were destroyed. Furthermore, between Niama and Balé, 05 km east of Djenne, an On-Site Destruction mission neutralized a terrorist according to the statement from the General Staff of the armed forces.

During the same operation, a detachment of the FAMa on offensive reconnaissance neutralized several terrorists, motorcycles, and a tricycle seized, 07 km northwest of Djenne and in the Inaraban sector. A terrorist ambush was also thwarted by the FAMa, with several terrorists neutralized. Unfortunately, three fighters were injured.

Subsequently, a FAMa patrol from GAO in Mali conducted opportunistic operations and neutralized several terrorists, recovering a Toyota Hilux, a PM, a loaded charger box, two Talkie radios, a 12.7 mm support, two three-wheel motorcycles, two LRAC launchers, and some ammunition and military effects.

The General Staff commended and encouraged the combatant forces and expressed its unwavering support for the continuation of the fight against terrorists. Furthermore, the General Staff of the armed forces assures that the search and neutralization of terrorists remain the priority of the FAMa, as well as the authorities of the country.
