Mali/Cooperation: Turkey ready to support its partner for sustainable socio-economic development

The Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for relations with Africa and the Middle East, Ahmet YILDIZ, reiterated his country’s readiness to support the Republic of Mali in its development process. This was during exchanges with the Malian President, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA.

He was in Bamako on the order of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip ERDOGAN. The Republic of Turkey states its readiness to support the Republic of Mali in the fields of health, education, industrial development, electricity, and economically by increasing Turkish Airlines flights to Mali.

The Turkish diplomat believes that Mali should establish a good mechanism to properly use natural resources for its socioeconomic development. Discussions also focused on the security situation in Mali and the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

The Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned being sufficiently informed about the evolution and motivations supporting the creation of this new entity between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. He also praised the significant results achieved in terms of security in Mali.

According to the envoy of the Turkish president in Bamako, the defined cooperation aspects will be clarified by the relevant ministers of both countries during the next joint economic commission between Mali and Turkey. Turkey has sophisticated war logistics, and it is important for Mali to strengthen military cooperation to intensify the fight against terrorism.
