The Council of Ministers on Friday, January 17, 2025, chaired by General Assimi GOITA, adopted several key measures to modernize the administration and boost the development of Mali. Among the decisions made, the government revised the decrees governing the National Police, Civil Protection, and Technical and Scientific Police to address current challenges, including crime, social networks, and militarization. These reforms include the creation of new units, such as an information processing center and divisions for the use of drones, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the security forces.

The Council also approved the ratification of a financing package of 88.7 billion CFA francs for the “Malidenko” project, aimed at improving access to infrastructure and basic services in 850 villages in vulnerable regions. This project involves the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure such as roads, markets, and health centers, thus strengthening the resilience of local communities.

Finally, major advances were made in economic emergence and natural resource management. The government approved the National Strategy for Emergence and Sustainable Development 2024-2033, an ambitious framework to transform Mali into an emerging nation by 2033, and authorized the transfer of the operating license for the large gold mine of Korali-Sud, promoting the optimal exploitation of the deposit. These measures reflect the authorities’ commitment to strengthening security, boosting the economy, and improving the well-being of the population.
