The security and protection of the Malian people remain the top priority of the transitional government in Mali. In this regard, the Transitional President, Colonel Assimi Goïta, Head of State, met on Monday, February 19, 2024, with the Chiefs of Staff and Directors of defense and security forces.

The aim was to take stock of the security situation, redefine new strategies to achieve objectives while considering the geopolitical, regional, and international context.

Following the meeting, the Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Colonel Sadio Camara, emphasized the coherence of the Malian defense and security system, an absolute priority of the highest authorities of the country and the Malian people. « We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Malian people, who have accorded a paramount place to the Malian army despite the economic challenges it faces », he mentioned in his remarks.

« Currently, the Malian Armed Forces have nothing to envy from other armies in the sub-region. The defense and security forces are equipped and prepared to autonomously carry out their mission of protecting territorial integrity as well as individuals and their property », stated Defense Minister Sadio Camara. This is in the supreme interest of our fellow citizens and the populations of the Sahel States Alliance.

More committed than ever, the Malian transitional authorities are determined to combat terrorism in all its forms on Malian territory for the well-being of the population.
