Mali: Strategic success for the FAMa in the Segou region

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) recently carried out a major air operation in the Ségou region, inflicting a severe blow on terrorist groups. The operation neutralized a leader of the Katiba Macina and destroyed an important base located in a forest 15 km north of Guélédjé, in the Toguéré-Koumbé circle.
This operation was made possible thanks to precise intelligence gathered and analyzed in advance. The surveillance services enabled us to identify with certainty the position of the terrorist leader and the suspicious activities taking place within the base. Patience and precision were essential to the success of the attack.
Before going on the offensive, a prolonged observation phase was carried out to assess the best moment to strike. The operation was carried out in a coordinated fashion, with surgical targeting to maximize impact while avoiding collateral damage to the surrounding civilian population.
With this victory, the FAMa have strengthened their hold on the Ségou region and considerably weakened the operational capabilities of the Katiba Macina. The destruction of this base marks a major step forward in the fight against terrorism, depriving the armed groups of an essential strategic point for their operations.
