Mali: The FAMa repel a massive attack in Nioro du Sahel
On the night of Monday, January 6 to Tuesday, January 7, 2024, the city of Nioro du Sahel was the target of a large-scale terrorist attack, according to an official announcement from the General Staff of the FAMa. The assailants, numerous and seemingly benefiting from internal complicity, targeted sensitive points in this strategic locality.
The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), true to their commitment to defend national sovereignty, responded with exemplary determination, vigorously repelling the assault. “The terrorists, infiltrating the city in large numbers, attacked certain sensitive points but were routed thanks to the heroic counterattack of the FAMa”, said the statement from the general staff.
At the end of this nighttime clash, the Malian army inflicted heavy losses on the assailants. The report indicates that 30 terrorists were neutralized, with their bodies left at the scene of the fighting. A vehicle belonging to the assailants was also destroyed by incendiary bullets, showing the intensity of the exchanges.
This attack, facilitated by infiltrations and internal complicities, highlights the importance of strengthened control over sensitive areas and collaboration with local populations. The general staff urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in order to prevent possible attempts at destabilization.
This new victory for the FAMa, in the ongoing fight against terrorism, illustrates the growing strength of the Malian armed forces and their ability to defend the national territory against persistent threats.
The population of Nioro du Sahel, though marked by the event, can rely on the unwavering commitment of the FAMa to guarantee their security and protect the integrity of the country. The general staff reiterates its call for unity and resilience in this war imposed by enemies of peace.
