Mali: The FAMa step up air operations against terrorist groups
Under the command of President Assimi Goïta, the Malian Armed Forces (The FAMa) have carried out targeted airstrikes against an armed terrorist group in the southwest of Bouj-Beha, in the Tombouctou region. This high-precision intervention is part of the FAMa’s ongoing efforts to secure Malian territory and protect populations from the threat posed by armed terrorist groups (GAT) operating in the north and center of the country.
These operations are part of an offensive strategy aimed at neutralizing the positions and bases of terrorist groups by enhancing the effectiveness of search and intervention missions.
The airstrikes at Bouj-Beha demonstrate the increasing military capabilities of Mali, particularly in terms of air equipment and strategic coordination. The FAMa have multiplied this type of operation to weaken armed groups, reduce their mobility, and progressively secure areas where civilians are at greater risk of violence.
Mali reaffirms its determination to combat terrorism and restore security and stability within its territory. These large-scale initiatives are essential to enable local communities to regain a peaceful environment and to support ongoing development projects in the Tombouctou region and beyond.
