Mali: The inauguration of a well in Koutiala Medina Coura, a social gesture by colonel Assimi GOÏTA

As part of his social initiatives, the Transitional President, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, provided a well to the population of Koutiala Medina Coura. The inauguration ceremony of this potable water point took place last Friday, presided over by Mr. Aguibou DEMBELE, Special Advisor to the Transitional President in charge of social affairs. Also in attendance were two mission officers from the President’s office, as well as the Governor of the Koutiala region, Brigadier General Abdoulaye CISSE.

Imam Gaoussou DIABATE, spokesperson for the Koutiala Medina Coura community, expressed the community’s gratitude to Colonel Assimi GOÏTA. He emphasized that this new well represents a significant change in the daily lives of the inhabitants. Previously, women and children had to travel long distances to access potable water, an effort that deprived them of valuable time for other essential activities, such as education and domestic work.

The establishment of this well directly addresses the fundamental needs of the population. By providing easy and constant access to potable water, the well reduces the risk of waterborne diseases and improves overall sanitary conditions. Furthermore, by freeing up time for women and children, this initiative indirectly contributes to increased local productivity and an improved quality of life.

The well has been strategically placed to maximize its impact. Its strategic location ensures easy access for a large number of residents, thereby ensuring an equitable distribution of this vital resource. This project is part of a series of actions undertaken by Colonel Assimi GOÏTA to strengthen basic infrastructure and promote sustainable development in Mali.

Colonel Assimi GOÏTA continues to demonstrate his commitment to improving the living conditions of Malians. Through such initiatives, he shows that the development of social infrastructure is a priority for his administration. These efforts are not only immediate responses to urgent needs but also long-term investments in the stability and prosperity of the country.
