Mali : Towards an illuminated Ramadan thanks to fuel supply

A glimmer of hope shines upon Mali as the sacred month of Ramadan approaches. Power outages, a source of frustration for many Malians, will soon diminish thanks to a massive fuel supply. This joyful news was announced during a press briefing by the Director-General of EDM (Mali Energy), at an event organized specifically to share this good news.

Thursday, March 7, 2024, will be remembered by Malians, as it was the day EDM unveiled its ambitious plan for the Ramadan month. No less than 30 million liters of fuel are expected to ensure reliable and consistent energy coverage during this crucial period. This impressive figure demonstrates EDM’s commitment to meeting the energy needs of the population, especially during times when solidarity and prayer are at the heart of daily life.

The Director-General of EDM highlighted the crucial importance of fuel in this process. Meeting this fuel supply challenge is a priority for the team, as it will ensure the continuous availability of electricity. « The government has acquired fuel stocks of 42 million liters », he stated confidently, dispelling concerns about the country’s ability to meet the growing demand during Ramadan.

This massive fuel stock, mostly sourced from Niger with 22 million liters and Togo with 20 million liters through partnerships with Russia, is a breath of fresh air for Malians who can now envision a sacred month without the hassle of power cuts. “For this Ramadan month, there will be 28 million liters available », confirmed the Director-General, emphasizing the extent of the planned supply.

But the announcement of fuel supply is just the first step. The real challenge, as emphasized by the EDM DG, is now the rapid and efficient transportation of this impressive quantity of fuel. « The challenge we will overcome together is the rapid transportation of this quantity », he emphasized with determination. He also reassured that these millions of liters are already en route, being transported to facilities to build up stocks, ready to power turbines and generators that illuminate homes and places of worship across the country.

In this period of preparation for Ramadan, this news brings welcome relief to the Malian population. EDM, under the leadership of its Director-General and with the support of the government, is gearing up to offer an illuminated Ramadan month, where electricity will be abundant and reliable. It is a moment of hope and rejoicing for all those preparing to observe this blessed month, knowing that the lights will remain on, guiding their spirituality and daily lives.

Together, Malians are preparing to celebrate Ramadan in light and warmth, thanks to the commitment of authorities and EDM and strategic fuel supply. May this month of prayer and solidarity be illuminated by this renewed energy, symbolizing hope and prosperity for all.
