Mali/Ukraine aggression: When the silence of the African Union intrigues and revolts Niger

The transitional government of Niger condemned on Tuesday, August 6th, the silence of African states, particularly the African Union, in response to Ukraine’s proven support for terrorists against the Malian armed forces and their Russian partners. This condemnation follows a video in which the Ukrainian ambassador residing in Dakar, Senegal, Iouri Pyvovarov, expressed support for criminals in northern Mali.

Additionally, according to a statement from Mali’s transitional government, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian military intelligence agency, Andriy Yusov, admitted Ukraine’s involvement in the terrorist attack against the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) in northern Mali, specifically in the locality of Tinzawatène, near the Algerian border. This attack resulted in the deaths of several Malian and Russian soldiers.

The Malian government asserts that the silence of Ukrainian authorities following these outrageous statements by Ukrainian officials confirms NATO-member Ukraine’s support for terrorists in Mali and the Sahel region. Despite calls from the authorities of the three AES countries (Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso) for African nations to condemn and denounce Ukraine’s intolerable actions, Niger is outraged that the African Union has not issued any statement to that effect.

Recently, only ECOWAS released a statement on Monday, August 5th, a few days after the attacks in northern Mali, marked by the presence of Ukrainian soldiers alongside terrorists. In this statement, ECOWAS denounced and condemned any foreign interference in the region that could threaten peace and security in West Africa. It also expressed condolences to the Malian people.

Analysts suggest that it is inconceivable for Africans to remain divided while the enemy openly admits to wanting to recolonize Africa, sometimes through heinous acts supported by fellow Africans. They argue that united Western powers exploit African divisions to advance their agendas and will succeed if nothing is done to counter these efforts.
