Mali: Unanimous approval by the CNT for the first part of the Finance Act 2024
The first part of the 2024 budget law, adopted during a cabinet meeting in September 2023, received unanimous approval from the National Transitional Council (the CNT) during a plenary session chaired by the 1st Vice President Assarid Ag Imbarcaouane on December 7th.
The budget forecasts revenues of 2.387.87 billion CFA francs and expenditures of 3.070.74 billion CFA francs, resulting in a deficit of 682.86 billion CFA francs, down by 1.03% compared to the revised 2023 budget.
Budgetary revenues are estimated at 2.377.111 billion CFA francs, up by 3.15% compared to the revised 2023 budget. Expenditures amount to 3.063.742 billion CFA francs, representing an increase of 2.31%.
The 2024 budget marks a milestone in Mali’s financial history by surpassing 3 trillion CFA francs. Despite a deficit of 686.631 billion CFA francs, down by 0.49% compared to 2023, mobilizing this amount poses challenges due to the country’s difficulties in raising funds in the UEMOA market and maintaining international partnerships. The second part of the 2024 budget law, covering programs, will be reviewed by the CNT advisors by December 31, 2024.
