Under the leadership of General Assimi GOÏTA, President of the Transition, Mali is celebrating excellence as a key driver of national development. On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the Koulouba Palace was filled with pride as the national under-18 basketball teams, both girls and boys, were honored for their outstanding achievements at the recent African Championship. This event, steeped in national pride, reflects the Head of State’s commitment to elevating Malian talent while fostering unity and patriotism.

During the ceremony, attended by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Youth and Sports, General Assimi GOÏTA emphasized the importance of recognizing and encouraging national talent. Minister Abdoul Kassim FOMBA praised the “ambassadors of the nation” for their resilience, teamwork, and exemplary conduct—values essential to inspire the Malian youth. As a reward, a National Merit Medal featuring the Lion Débout emblem was presented, along with a check for 85 million CFA francs for the captains of both teams.

In a gesture of patriotism, the young champions dedicated their awards to the Malian Armed Forces, expressing their gratitude for the security they provide every day. This event demonstrates General Assimi GOÏTA’s determination to make excellence a cornerstone of national development by valuing local talent and mobilizing all forces for Mali’s progress.
