Manchester City: Erling Haaland is available for a song!

On Thursday, the Mirror published rather surprising information regarding Erling Haaland. The British tabloid reported that the Norwegian is considered a “burden” in the Manchester City dressing room. At the same time, Sky Sports indicated that he wishes to join Real Madrid, which has been rumored to be his main contender for years.

However, by the end of the afternoon, Marca denied these reports, clarifying that the striker had never requested to join the Casa Blanca. The Madrid publication even added that the former Borussia Dortmund player wants to remain with the Sky Blues, with whom he is in discussions to extend his contract, initially set to expire in June 2027. Erling Haaland, who dreams of playing for Real Madrid one day, has no intention of leaving at this moment. He is not yet ready to take that step.

Marca’s article also reveals another significant piece of information: Erling Haaland’s release clause would actually be just €70 million, far less than the previously speculated amounts nearing €200 million. Thus, the Norwegian striker is available for the price Manchester City paid for him, provided he wishes to leave.

However, this clause is not available to everyone, as already known. It does not apply to Premier League clubs, meaning Liverpool, Chelsea, or Manchester United cannot snatch Haaland from their rival for such a modest fee. On the other hand, unless proven otherwise, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, or PSG could activate this clause if they choose to in the future. This is a story to follow…
