Mila AZIABLE: A new impetus for Togo’s energy independence
Since her appointment in October 2020 as the Minister Delegate for Energy and Mines, Mila AZIABLE embodies the dynamism and determination of the Togolese government to transform the energy sector and ensure the country’s energy independence. Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, the vision of an energy-autonomous Togo, based on renewable energies, is becoming a reality.
Guided by the presidential vision, Mila AZIABLE has initiated several ambitious projects aimed at realizing this bold objective. One of the major pillars of this transformation is the “Fonds Tinga” project, which directly addresses the challenge of electrifying households across the country. This project aims to extend electricity access in rural and peri-urban areas, ensuring that every Togolese household has reliable access to energy.
The construction of photovoltaic solar power plants in Dapaong, Sokodé, Blitta, and other locations represents significant progress toward diversifying Togo’s energy mix. These plants, which harness clean and renewable energy sources, will not only help reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also strengthen the country’s energy security.
The KAMADAMA project, with its 310 km of power lines connecting several Togolese cities from Kara to Mango, is another crucial step in this transformation. By modernizing and extending the electric grid, Togo is bolstering its energy infrastructure, thereby fostering economic and social development across the country.
President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision, implemented by Minister Mila AZIABLE, is not limited to the short term. They have set an ambitious goal for the country: to guarantee universal access to reliable, high-quality, and sufficient electricity for all Togolese by 2030, while reducing the country’s energy dependence.
This vision is based on concrete actions and strategic investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency. By encouraging innovation and creating an environment conducive to investments in the energy sector, the Togolese government is stimulating economic growth while preserving the environment.
Minister Mila AZIABLE, following the instructions of President Faure Gnassingbé, exemplifies determined leadership in transforming Togo’s energy landscape. Her commitment to sustainable energy transition marks a decisive shift towards a cleaner and more secure energy future for Togo.
