Morocco: 72-Year-Old Frenchman Suspected of Killing His Children
A French tourist is suspected of killing his 9- and 13-year-old children and attempting suicide in a hotel room in Morocco, Moroccan authorities said.
An investigation has been opened, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, aimed at “elucidating the causes and circumstances of a suicide attempt by a 72-year-old French tourist, suspected of having committed a premeditated homicide by injecting his two minor children with a suspicious substance,” the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) said in a statement.
According to the same source, the services of the judicial police of Marrakech had begun the procedures of finding the lifeless bodies of the two minors, specifying that it is a double murder of children aged 9 and 13, bearing traces of injections of a suspicious substance, in a hotel room. The victims were found near their French father, a retired nurse, who was in a comatose state.
The statement said a letter was also discovered in the hotel room explaining that a family history was behind the crime and his suicide attempt. The letter was forwarded to the forensic laboratory to determine its relationship to this crime.
As part of the investigation, the former wife of the French citizen was also interviewed. The judicial police of the city of Marrakech continues its research and investigations into this case, while the bodies of the two victims have been transferred to the hospital for autopsy to determine the causes and circumstances of this crime.
