Niger: Opening of the first school of petroleum and gas in Zinder
A National School of Petroleum and Gas has just opened its doors in Zinder a town in Niger. Last week, the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Technological Innovation, Professor Mamadou Saidou, inaugurated this new school at the André Salifou University of Zinder. This project aligns with a significant vision of the CNSP (National Council for the Salvation of the People) of the former Nigerien authorities in the field of petroleum.
The initiative to create this school is part of a strategic framework aimed at upgrading internal skills to support development. Through this school, the Nigerien authorities aim not only to improve the exploitation of their resources but also to ensure more effective and sustainable management in production by implementing a management system for resource optimization.
It is well known that the creation of this school comes at a critical time for Niger, whose crude oil production has recently experienced a dramatic increase. The country has increased its production from 20.000 to 110.000 barrels per day, marking an impressive increase of 90.000 barrels daily. This expansion emphasizes profitability, which requires the availability of demonstrated skills to support this new dynamic.
The inauguration of the ENPG (National Oil and Gas School) is a decisive step towards self-sufficiency and the optimization of local resources. It also offers new opportunities for young Nigeriens, who can now acquire cutting-edge skills to meet internal needs.
