Niger: The FSSP committee calls on cultural actors

Culture is a real tool for transmitting messages. Thus cultural actors are often considered as ambassadors carrying a message to the population. After the great concert organized in Agadez to support the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland (CNSP), on October 15, the transitional government is waiting to count on cultural actors to achieve the objectives of the Solidarity Fund for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (FSSP), launched a few days ago.

It is in this context that the President of the Management Committee of the Solidarity Fund for the Safeguarding of the Homeland, Mrs Brah RĂ©ki Moussa Hassane met yesterday afternoon, the Nigerian cultural actors. The discussions focused on the implementation of the new communication strategy of the FSSP which aims to raise awareness about this fund and to push them to act.

According to Amina Niandou, the committee’s communications officer, this meeting is part of the series of consultations that the WSP undertook in preparation for the implementation of its communication plan.

The mobilization was strong on the side of cultural actors, in order for them to soak up the main lines contained in the new communication strategy of solidarity funds for the safeguarding of the Homeland. Among the cultural actors mobilized for this purpose are singers, actors, directors and animators.

The activities of this fund were officially launched on October 17. The objectives of this fund are, among others, the mobilization of resources and the financing of support for capacity building of the Defence and Security Forces (SDF) engaged in the fight against terrorism and insecurity by providing them with weapons and logistical means, in particular transport equipment.

The news of the creation of this fund and its objectives are well received by the public. CNSP is confident. A transparency mechanism for the mobilization of funds is put in place for more transparency. News releases on TV channels, radio stations and newspapers will inform citizens on a daily basis about contributions received and their assignments.
