Nigeria: .Two teenage girls sell their ovaries, eggs and organs
The police in Lagos have launched an investigation into how two teenage girls, residing in the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos State, Nigeria allegedly sold their organs to a doctor in Abeokuta, Ogun State, two months ago for N200,000 without their parents’ consent.
The two teenage girls, Precious Ikechukwu, 17, daughter of a Pentecostal minister in Lagos, and her father’s secretary, Theresa Obam, 19, allegedly colluded with another churchgoer, Mrs Adeleke Blessing, and went to a doctor at a specialist hospital where their organs were sold for N100,000 each. According to the report, their action was revealed on September 12, 2022, when Precious, the pastor’s daughter started vomiting. She was taken to the hospital by her father, Ikechukwu Umeayo, who thought it was typhoid or malaria, and the doctor ordered a medical examination, which later revealed that her anu.s and her private part were damaged.
According to the report, the sick girl regained consciousness and revealed to her father that a female member of his church, Mrs. Adeleke Blessing, had taken them to Ogun State, where their organs were sold to a doctor. The teenagers further alleged that Mrs Adeleke convinced them to commit the illegal act because the pastor, her father, did not give them enough money and that she would take them to a place where they would be paid a generous N100,000. They also alleged that Mrs. Adeleke warned them not to tell their father/parents, and that if they did, she would kill them.
Giving details of how the transplant was done, the teenagers said Mrs. Adeleke Blessing, also known as Mummy K, without the consent of their parents, tampered with them at Redwood Hospital in Abeokuta Ogun State and conspired with the doctor identified as Dr. Durodola and injected them with drugs. They claimed that they were forcibly taken to a hospital where they were also coerced and their ovaries/ovules/organs were illegally removed by the doctor without their consent, resulting in severe pain and bleeding.
Based on the startling revelations, the teenagers were taken to another hospital, where they were referred for medical laboratory testing and analysis, which revealed that their liver, uterus, bladder, kidney, spleen and gall bladder were damaged as a result of the removal of their ovaries/ovaries (46 ovaries) at the hospital.
When contacted, the father of one of the teenagers, Bishop Umeayo, told Vanguard that when his daughter, Precious, was taken to the hospital and the test was carried out, his younger children told him that they knew their sister was sick because she frequently visited the toilet with medical equipment and came out dripping with blood. He said the main suspect, Mrs Adeleke, was staying with her mother-in-law in the church compound and often attends the church vigil. It was discovered that one of the teenage girls, Favor, lives with Pastor Ikechukwu and Pastor Ikechukwu employed her as a secretary in the church with a salary of N20,000, and his daughter, Precious, who is a hairdresser, does Mrs. Adeleke’s hair and is paid.
The case was reported to the police station and they later transferred it to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau for further investigation.
However, the case took a different dimension after the pastor’s lawyer, Ikechukwu Chiaha, suspected that the police may have compromised the case, based on his client’s revelation that the investigators were seeking an out-of-court settlement and payment of N300,000, of which he alleged that the police would take N200,000. Based on this, Chiaha later transferred the case to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons, NAPTIP, which opened a fresh investigation.
Reacting to the allegation, the main suspect, Mrs Adeleke, said the victims voluntarily donated their eggs.
“The two girls volunteered to donate their eggs to the hospital, after listening to my phone conversation with a doctor and in return, they were compensated with N100,000, of which Favor gave me N20,000 for bringing them to the hospital,” she said. she said.
When contacted, Lagos State Police spokesman David Hundeyin said: “This was not organ harvesting, the operation was performed by a professional doctor and the process was legal. All documents were signed and the girls stated in the document that they were over 18 years old. The doctor told them about the consequences of feeling pain for two days, after which they agreed and donated their organs. Unfortunately, they did not inform their father and the father is asking for N200 million as compensation. »
