Nigerian music star Rema cancels concerts to focus on his health
Nigerian music star Rema cancelled all his shows in December to focus on his health.
In a post on Instagram, the Afrobeats star said he had neglected his health due to his constant touring.
The star, who lined up in Nigeria and South Africa later this year, said it was now time to recover.
«It breaks my heart to say I won’t be performing anywhere in December. After years of touring, I’ve ignored my health and I need time to recover. In 2024, we go back in love», he said.
The star enjoyed a series of musical successes this year, his song Calm Down, which he performs with Selena Gomez, having broken many records in streaming and ranking.
The song has become the most shazamed song of 2023 worldwide and received last week the award for best afrobeats song at the Billboard Music Awards.
Earlier this month, he seduced football legends at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, a few days after Calm Down made history as the longest and most popular African song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
Reacting to Rema’s decision to cancel his shows, Davido, another Nigerian star, praised his achievements.
«The work is not easy physically and mentally! You have brought honour to Africa and the whole world beyond all expectations. Rest, king, and come back stronger», Rema said.
