Olympics 2024: Burkina Faso’s Marthe Koala qualifies for women’s long jump final
Today, in the women’s long jump event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Burkinabe athlete Marthe Yasmine Koala shone by securing her ticket to the final.
In her first attempt, Marthe achieved an impressive jump of 6.36 meters.
Determined to improve her performance, she then reached 6.59 meters on her second try, a mark she repeated in her final jump. With this solid performance of 6.59 meters, Marthe Koala qualified for the final.
Burkina Faso can now dream of a medal, especially since the best performance in her group was 6.87 meters by Italian Larissa Lapichino. Although this jump is impressive, Marthe has a personal record even higher at 6.97 meters.
The women’s long jump final is scheduled for Thursday, August 8. With Marthe Yasmine Koala in the competition, Burkina Faso can hope for a strong performance and, possibly, a historic Olympic medal.
