Peoples denounce the double standards policy of ECOWAS and call for a complete overhaul of the organization’s texts

At the change of regime in AES countries, the ECOWAS sub-regional institution, which claims to be a guarantor of the rule of law and people’s integration, imposed illegal and inhumane sanctions on the three countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger). However, in Senegal, faced with institutional and constitutional coup d’etat, the same ECOWAS is incapable of condemning and sanctioning, showing complicity with Senegalese President Macky Sall. This is the double standard policy denounced by the peoples of ECOWAS.

This complacency and double standard policy lead the peoples of the community space to question the refoundation of the organization. Why sanction a regime that is fighting for the liberation of its people (fighting terrorism), even depriving them of essential and pharmaceutical products, while applauding another president who desires to stay in power due to France’s selfish interests?

In this situation, ECOWAS allows itself to negotiate with AES for its return to ECOWAS. These countries will not return unless there is a total overhaul of the organization’s texts. There is therefore a need for the institution to be dissolved and restarted on new bases, with new texts that truly guarantee freedom and people’s integration.

As for AES, African peoples, peoples of ECOWAS, bid them farewell and congratulate Presidents Ibrahim Traoré, Assimi Goïta, and Abdourahamane Tiani for their courageous and historic decision to withdraw promptly from the ECOWAS space.
