RUGBY/FRA-AFS: Heavy accusations against World Rugby and television

Almost two months after the Blue were eliminated by South Africa, Jonathan Danty has clearly not digested Ben O’Keeffe’s refereeing.

The weeks have gone by and the Blue are still reeling from their loss to South Africa in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

«I still have this image of the referee blowing his whistle at the end of the match. He left and we just stood there. There was nothing there», Uini Atonio told L’Equipe, adding: «With the quality in this team, I don’t see how we managed to lose that game».

For many, the main reason for this defeat against the Springboks is Ben O’Keeffe, the referee of the match. Immediately after the match, Antoine Dupont was quick to criticise the New Zealander for «not being up to the job».

Since then, most of the French players have been more measured, believing that they were primarily responsible for this setback, which was due in particular to some poorly negotiated high balls in the first half.
