CAF congratulates Senegal on its 8ᵉ beach soccer crown

Senegal has triumphed once again in beach soccer by winning the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, adding an eighth continental title to its record. CAF President Patrice Motsepe congratulated the Senegalese team on their achievement.

In a letter addressed to Augustin Senghor, President of the Senegalese Football Federation, who shared the announcement on X, he praised the “remarkable work” accomplished by the team in recent years.

The Lions of Teranga secured their eighth continental title (the fifth in a row) by defeating Mauritania in the final in Hurghada. Both teams have also qualified for the 2025 World Cup, which will be held in the Seychelles.

“I am confident that the Lions will proudly represent the Senegalese people and the entire African continent,” stated Dr. Motsepe, promising CAF’s support in preparation for the World Cup.

Augustin Senghor also emphasized: “Honor and pride! Ready to represent Africa with our talented brothers from Mauritania and the Seychelles at the first beach soccer World Cup organized in Africa, Seychelles 2025. One continent, one goal: Africa wins Africa!”

This victory marks Senegal’s fifth consecutive title in this competition.
